I hadn’t worked with “new” stone before. This was the first wall in our class that was with stone straight from the quarry.

It was hard at first to get a handle on this batch of limestone because it was quite difficult to dress. But I did get a handle on it, and I think the wall looks beautiful. I love the orange-blue tint to it. This wall has tie stones, caps and copes. So it’s a real exemplary dry stone wall.

You can go see it on the far side of the parking lot of the Bluegrass Community Technical College in Danville, Kentucky.
